Protoceratops was a small 6 foot (2m) long dinosaur that would have weighed up to 400 pounds (200kg) when fully grown. This frilled dinosaur lacked horns, but is related to the more famous Triceratops, Styracosaurus and Monoclonius from similar times in North America. It is believed that this animal's skull was the basis of the griffin myth from ancient times.
