Egyptian Scarab Trinket Jar

The Egyptian Scarab decoration is an emblem synonymous with the ancient Egyptian civilization. The scarab is a dung beetle species sacred in ancient Egyptian culture. The beetle's behavior of rolling dungballs was associated by the Egyptians with the cycle of the sun across the sky, and hence the scarab came to symbolise the sun god Ra. Scarab decorations were incredibly popular and were used in various ornaments, amulets, seals, and jewelry.
